Evaluation of the Spatial Distribution Conservation Practices Implemented Along a Northern Utah Watershed

Watershed scale evaluation focused on the spatial distribution of conservation management practices in relation to critical areas along the Little Bear River Watershed. This project was part of the USDA funded nationwide Conservation Effects Assessment Project (CEAP), a multi-agency effort to quantify the environmental effects of conservation practices and programs and develop the science base for managing the agricultural landscape for environmental quality. Project findings can help guide USDA conservation policy and program development and assist conservationists, farmers and ranchers make more informed conservation decisions. Under contract with Utah State University, RedFISH created a GIS-based model of soil erosion potential, completed a GIS assessment of Best Management Practice placement across the watershed, performed spatial data analyses, presented results in scientific meetings, and prepared manuscripts for peer reviewed publications.
